Bob Burns

|
Bob has been Cabinet Member-Resources
for the last four years on a full-time basis. A former Principal
Town Planning Officer (Economic Development) in Gwent, the Economist/Statistician
for Cardiff Bay Development Corporation retired in 1998, developed
a Computer consultancy business until his election in 2004. Bob
brings a deep professional experience from local government and
private sector and is a moderniser. He believes that the citizens
as customers of BCBC services deserve the best and is determined
to provide the best for the Community. He has played a significant
part in keeping Council Tax low, has led the BCBC transformation
process in reducing senior management saving millions and centralising
the Human Resource department, also saving on costs, which Labour
did not control.
Bob before 2004 was Secretary of the Island Farm Action Group fighting
all 'out of accord' planning proposals since 1996 culminating in
leading role in the BCBC Cabinet deciding not to dispose of Island
Farm which resulted in a Judicial Review. The LibDem led Council
won the case with costs. This High Court decision is now widely
quoted throughout the UK to explain democratic processes. Before
election in 2004 Bob also helped residents opposing development
of Cae Court for inappropriate uses in this conservation area. Bob
has lived in the Ward since 1994 and is committed to developing
community interests, good governance and getting BCBC to be an 'excellent'
Council in Wales. |
