Newcastle

Tony Berrow

I wish to represent you as your Councillor and think you will agree that my work and community experience qualify me to do so.

I have worked at the steel works in Port Talbot for 35 years and have also run my own business. I have been committed to the community for many years as a community councilor and a member of Bridgend County Borough Council for 5 years. I was a member of the Labour Party.

I became a member of the Welsh Liberal Democrats because in my roles as Chair of the Board of Governors for Tremains Infants School and Chair of Bridgend Governors Association I realised that the current Lib Dem Led council was taking brave decisions to radically improve our schools. This was long overdue. I also represent all Bridgend's schools on Governors Wales.

I grew up in West Road and know the area well; Newcastle Ward has changed dramatically in the past few years. Previously you were represented by the Labour Party and your current councilors are Conservatives. My colleague, Arwyn and myself understand that many of you feel your views are not being represented.

Liberal Democrat councilors do not work under the whip system and are free to represent their community as they believe they should. If you vote for me, I will be available to you all year round not just at election time.
