Now retired from the world of education, I have
been a teacher, a lecturer in teacher training and a Community
Education officer.
During this career I was involved in running an outdoor activities
centre, as well as being responsible for the Glamorgan Summer
School, the Adult Literacy Scheme and the Duke of Edinburgh's
Award Scheme in Mid Glamorgan.
I have also worked part-time for a project to open
the Youth Service to young people with disabilities and for Gateway
clubs for people with learning difficulties.
I have a degree in French and English, a Post-Graduate
Certificate in Education, a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Education
and a Doctorate in Education. I have studied socio-linguistics
and Adult Learning with the Open University and I have learned
Welsh, in which I am now fairly fluent.
I still have a lot of "hands - on" experience in education.
I have run a French class for the U3A (University of the Third
Age) and as a volunteer I have been hearing the children read
at Litchard Primary School for some years.
I am interested in environmental matters, I keep
fit, I swim, ski, walk my dogs and write.
