My name is Charlotte Berrow and I grew up in Maes Talcen and live in number 86.
My first big adventure was to go shopping at the triangle on my own. I was 5 years old. People at the shops phoned my mum to tell her I had wandered off. I was annoyed, my adventure was ruined, but I have wondered - would the community do the same today? I think the community I grew up in has vanished.
I’m asking you to please help me with my next big adventure. I have decided to stand to represent all the people living in Brackla, young and old, on Bridgend County Borough Council.
Who am I, and why would you vote for me? I’m 19, currently in my first year at university studying Primary Education, living at home. I want to be a teacher, I also want to work in the community. I’m young but optimistic, think positively and work hard. I am ambitious, very determined and I never give up.
I know what you’re thinking, “she’s too young”, but why not give me a chance, you’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain.
TOGETHER we can improve OUR community. This is a local election, it’s about Brackla - not Westminster, not Cardiff Bay. I don’t agree with all the decisions they make and I know you don’t either.
I appreciate that most of you are busy and can’t spend time working or attending meetings. I will set up an internet site, where you can express your views, any problems you are experiencing and your concerns, I want my name, number and e-mail address on your fridge so I can ensure problems are addressed and resolved.
